Trouble Getting a Keypad working in FSX

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm trying to get a separate keypad up and running to control the GPS controls in FSX. I've mapped the keys using the "Send SimConnect Event (FSX)" fields. I've saved the config and compiled. I launch FSX and press SimConnect button in HIDMacros. It says connected. However, the keypad does not see the assignments I've given it. Under 'controls/buttons,' the fields where the button assignments is blank, and the keypad controls the default actions. I've made a test macro using 'send keyboard sequence,' and that works fine outside of FSX. I think I have simConnect installed correctly. Do I need to activate it in FSX somehow? Do I need another utility running? I'm very new at this, so I appreciate any advice you ca give. Thanks, Dave
