I have some problems with HidMacros in Windows7 Home Premium SP1

As far as I can tell, HM sees the mouse events, but it can't stop the mouse events, nor send the generated keyboard sequences outside HM.
Also, my adobe Photoshop Elementys seems to completely ignore the existence of hidmacros.

For now, I keep soldiering on with XP, and switched to Ubuntu (it's a bit tricky, but it is possible to "override" mouses wheels and buttons with a combination of simple utilities
(xinput - setbuttonmap, imwheel, xbinkeys) on my laptop.

I suspect that something went awry when I first run (as normal user) HidMacros.

Anybody has any idea on this?

I re-installed HidMacros 2.3, and copied Winhook.dll into the system32 folder. HM works well, now.

Update:

Similar problems are persisting in GIMP and MangaStudio. I think it is NOT a HidMacros problem, though.

Both programs have some kind of low level controller to directly link the mouse wheel (and keys beyond the standard three) to actions in the program.

These controllers "eat" the events away, and sit before the HM filter in the drivers chain, so that, when one of these programs get focus, HM is forcefully oblivious of what happens to the mouses.

I hate when programmers outsmart my cut-cornering into obsolescence.
